Coltishall Mad March Hare

A squadron of RntS landed at ex RAF Coltishall this morning to take part in the first of 3 trio of runs organised by the Jolly Jaguars. This year, the three medals all join up to make a BBMF grouping.

The runners taxied their way around the perimeter track and technical site before taking off as they hurtled towards the finish line.

Great running by everyone today included a couple of runners who were taking part in their first official 10k event.

As always, very well organised but as the runs get bigger, so do the queues for everything (see picture below!).

Hunny Bell X Country

So, apparently this is a true conversation overheard at the Hunny Bell X Country today:

“What’s that noise? Is it thunder?”
“No, that’s a heard of RntS galloping across the Stody Estate!”

Well, maybe that didn’t actually happen, but I think the run today is bordering on being the most well attended event by RntS so far!

With three juniors and an amazing 23 seniors (we’re not all that old are we?!) taking part there were more white shirts on show than at Fakenham laundry! Also, from what I can tell, that was more representation than any other club there today!

Not the greatest of conditions due to heavy rain over night and rain during the event, but good (muddy) fun nonetheless. With the reward of cake and coffee in the village hall at the end, it was a very well organised run for a worthwhile charity.

Well done everyone. Same time next year?

Ringland Half Marathon

A fine turnout of RntS for the inaugural Ringland Half Marathon held at Roarr! (the dinosaur park) in Lenwade.

A great location for a race HQ and very well organised. Something really nice was the different running clubs manning the water-stations along the route (maybe something RntS could help with at an event?)

If anyone knows Ringland and the area, they’ll know it’s not completely flat and there were a couple of lovely earth wrinkles along the way.

A couple of PBs were gained in the rain and a few runners were taking part in their first ever HM event. Well done to everyone.

Cambridge Half Marathon

A bit of a journey for David and Kirsty who headed to Cambridge to be among the amost 8500 or so other runners taking part in the Cambridge Half Marathon.

It looks like the worst of the rain held off and both RntS have very good runs.

Official Times
David – 2:03:30
Kirsty – 2:15:52

Belvoir Challenge XC Marathon

Bi big kudos to Glyn who completed the Belvoir Challenge XC Marathon yesterday.

Not wanting to make it easy for himself, he did it in boots and with a 35lb bergen!

In his words “Belvoir Challenge XC Marathon. EXO Mountain Gear Bergan with 35lb plus boots just to challenge myself a bit. Not a great time as there were a lot of bottlenecks with 1200+ people taking part but pleased I did it. “

Great work Glyn.

Thetford Trails 10k Series – Race 3

Well done to the awesome foursome who completed the 3rd and final race in the Thetford Trails series. By the looks of the weather (and the report from Paula that shorts would have been a sensible choice) it would appear that a number of seasons have been covered during this series!

As you can see, those that completed all three races obtained the full set of medals which join together.

Well done guys.

Official Times:
Paula – 48:48.1
Allison – 54:49.9
Chris P – 1:02:50.8

Marriott’s Way Trail Events 2019

I honestly think it will be difficult to run through such a lovely area on such a beautiful day.

The sun was shining, the course was in great condition and the organisation was great (although, a couple of extra marshals would have come in handy!). Drinks and snacks at the end were well received.

A big shout out to Glyn who whoop whooped his fellow RntS at the 1.5 mile to go mark. It was brilliant to see him on the course.

Nur was the only RntS taking part in the full Marathon today, while Amanda, Cat and myself did the half.

Official Times:
Marathon
Nur – 5:00:11

Half Marathon
Amanda Marshall – 2:02:21

Anglian Cross-Country Championships 2019

Brilliant running by Abbi and Amberly who represented Norfolk in the Anglian Cross-Country Championships.

In the Junior Girls class, Abbi completed the course in 31st place, and in the Intermediate Girls class, Ambie completed the 3.75km course, finishing in 59th place.

Well done ladies, a great running future is ahead!

Horsford XC Series – Race 3

It looks like the Reepham cross country whetted Glyn’s XC appetite so he decided to take part in the final race of the Horsford XC series.

It certainly looks like it ticks the XC boxes (muddy and wet!).

Maybe we’ll get some members doing all three next winter?
