Woodhall Spa Tri
The beautiful Woodhall Spa was the setting for the fourth and last of OSB’s Midlands Sprint series of triathlons. The organisation was amazing, lots of crowd support and the event real festival feel. It was a very inclusive event with triathletes of all levels represented. The conditions were perfect especially if you had an early start time in the cooler morning, although the heated lido was still warm even at 8.50am! We were in a relay team, Hayley, Mat and Amberly – Team Shalom, I blame Ambie for the name. Whilst Ant took on the triathlon individually. Ambie’s first triathlon experience was a great introduction into the crazy world that is ‘triathlon’. She ran an impressive 5k time on fresh legs that individual competitors didn’t have the luxury of. We soaked up the sun, ate burgers and cakes while Ant tackled the course with ease. The Lancaster flying low above elite athletes tumble turning in the pool was something very special. The only downer on the day was arriving at the amazing bakery 3 minutes after closing time. Will we back next year? Most definitely, we need to get to the bakery on time!

Thetford Trails Summer Series – Race 2
Race 2 of the Summer series trail runs at Thetford Forest and Summer had definitely arrived! Pretty much the same as race 1 with a few more competitors and the addition of a giant deckchair and selfie board.
Hayley was 2 mins faster with 56:27. Amberly was 3mins and 15 seconds faster with 51:06. Second in age category again, this time in a new age category now of 15-19.

Norfolk 100km
Well done to Lucy Mc for completing the Norfolk 100km Ultra marathon.
In her own words:
Well I done it. Total miles 62. Got bit of a block at mile 12 but felt good at the end. Not sure how stairs are going to be this morning, by mile 47 they had already become interesting to tackle ????. So glad I done it. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported me. Kerrie for getting me along the dreaded shingle bank. The runts at Wells. My brother, Helen and Sylvie with their flags and banners, and finally my mum and dad who got me to the start and gave up their day topping me up with food and drink and tapping my smashed feet up. Andy and the kids were at the end which was so nice apart from when Connor tagged me and pretended to play it with me, cheeky chap. Now going to sleep and eat lots wearing my medal ????

Alex Moore Relay
Sunday 9th June saw four teams of RntS take on the Alex Moore relay in Skeyton – some for the first time, others were returning for more!
This is an extremely friendly event starting and finishing in The Goat pub garden. Chris and Ceri provided the teams with a club gazebo as last year was so sunny and hot. This year the weather was more favourable with some sunshine and a pleasant breeze.
Each team covers a total distance of 13.1 miles during the race – runner A runs one 2.2 mile loop, comes in and tags runner B who does two loops, tags runner C who also does 2 loops and comes and collects runners A & B and the team complete the third and final loop together.
The afternoon was finished off with a pint and G&T for some and a fabulous picnic provided by Ceri, Angie, Lucy and Nell.
Thank you to Lucy, Nell and Kevin for their wonderful cheering and support.
This event will remain firmly in the events calendar. Get a team of three together and give it a go!

Marham Flyers Summer Special 10K
After watching my fellow RntS heading off on the Duathlon from the other side of the perimeter fence, the next 30 minutes of warming up with a man holding a gun near you was interesting. The first part of the race I was getting into my stride and I have never seen such a welcoming water station or people in hiviz before at the 5K mark!
The distance around the airfield was bang on 10K.
A very enjoyable and well organised race. I will be back next year.

Lotus Test Track 10k
The first 10k event held at the Lotus test track was great fun if a little low key. Harling Athletics club ran an organised and well marshaled race.
The weather was perfect for 4 laps of a lovely flat course. I was the only member of RntS in attendance with Mat as my cheerleader in the pit lane. I was pleased with my performance, as I wasn’t firing on all cylinders after a week of the lurgy and no training.
The only negative were the barriers preventing Mat from having the kind of nosey around the Lotus site he was hoping for!
