GEAR 10k – King’s Lynn

Usually, it’s not too difficult to herd a bunch of RntS into one spot, but when there’s upwards of 3000 people in a small(ish) market place and around 2500 of those are in running gear, you can’t sometimes see the wood for the trees!

Hence, when the photos appear, you’ll note that some RntS are in one or both of the group pictures, but we didn’t manage to get one of everyone together.

This year the weather was much kinder that the scorching heat of last year (although at points it was rather warm today). Thanks to that there were some very good times from members including a few PBs.

Today also heralded the first ever test of the ‘Full Club Kit, Holiday and Body Bag, Bag Drop Bag!’

ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K

Great running by Ceri and Chris P who went to their ancestral home to take part today in the Newport Marathon (that will be 2 in 8 days!) and 10K, respectively. It’s a good job that they’ve been doing hill training (even if it was just to get to the start line!)

Virgin Money London Marathon

I don’t think there’s anything more to be said than Kevin said this morning:

Ceridwen Howell making history for our Club today. First RntS to run the London Marathon on an EA Club ticket. All the very best to you Ceri. Enjoy, have fun and we are all thinking of you. No pressure! And I do mean that, there is no pressure, just enjoy the experience. “

Well done Ceri. You’ve made us all extremely proud.

Active Fakenham Easter Town Centre 5K

A fantastic turnout for the Active Fakenham Easter Town Centre 5K today. Probably the warmest running day of the year so far!

( I really wish I’d have been running it (or do I?)).

Great to see so many RntS in attendance, not only running but also supporting.

Top cheering led once again by Stu, and thanks to my chauffeur for the lift home. ?

Also, stay tuned for the club interview, hosted by Angie….[link to follow]

RntS 2 Mile Handicap 2019 – Run 1

The first of the Trilogy of Terror (or should that be the Triumvirate of Triumph?).

Staying on the new North Drive to MP4 course, the first of the 2019 Handicap runs caught many of us by surprise this Monday…..

Boston Marathon and Half Marathon

A quad of RntS travelled to Linconshire today to take part in the Boston events. A duo on runners in each one.

Apparently, the thing that people remember about these events is the smedll of the cabbages (well, so I was told yesterday)! I wonder if it’s true? Is that how Hayley M, Hayley J and Glyn all managed new PBs, running away from it? (I will also add that it’s advertised as the flattest marathon course in the country!)

Well done guys.

Brighton Marathon Weekend 10k

Well done to Cat who traveled down to Brighton to run the BM10k today with her sister Jo.

Looks like the organisers have a busy day ahead (over 4400 runners in the 10k and 16600 in the marathon!)

Nice one Cat.

Only The Brave

For those of the RntS who wanted more than just rain, there was Only The Brave this weekend, held at Elveden Estate near Thetford. Two difference routes were available a 6 mile and a 10 mile.

As well as the rain, there was mud. And by the looks of the pictures, lots of it!

The event was held to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and it looks like it was very successful at doing so.

Well done guys, a well earned bath was needed after that!

Norwich Half Marathon 2019

‘Do the Norwich Half’ they said! ‘The weather will be mild and clear’ they said!

Well, they fibbed! After a foggy drive to Norwich, that’s where the weather similarities to the 2018 Norwich HM ended. All was OK, not great, but OK until just after 10:15 (the allotted ‘get into your finish time start positions’ time). That’s when it started, just a few drops, and then it rained. Not heavy rain, but that annoying rain which just soaks you. This didn’t stop until about 12:00 which was enough time to make sure everyone was wet through and there wasn’t enough time to dry off before the end.

Even though the weather wasn’t great, the route was, as usual, scenic (when we could see it) and the hills still come as a surprise (I’m sure the ones at about 13km have grown since last year!).

A good turnout by the RntS with a couple of super PBs (Hayley W and Chris P). Well done guys.
